THE PLANT LIFE

HOW THE PANDEMIC TURNED MILLENNIALS INTO PLANT OWNERS

Indoor Plants

LET'S FACE IT...

The pandemic is not ending anytime soon, unfortunately. However, people are trying to find different hobbies or things to do for self care. For me? It's been buying plants! I've never been a plant person until my job sent us mini plants as self care gifts in May. Since receiving those four mini plants, I've grown my collection to about 20 plants.

Millennials and even Gen-Z have turned to plants during this pandemic. According to LancasterOnline, millennials were responsible for one-third of indoor plant sales since March. Coined as "plant parents", millennials are turning to plants because it not a large commitment since most of us are still focusing on our careers than starting families right away. As the weather gets cooler, millennials are purchasing more indoor plants to maintain their new hobby.

As my plant journey continues, I want to make my plant purchases from small businesses, BIPOC plant nurseries, and/or follow instagram accounts that'll show me how to NOT kill my plants too easily.

SO... WHAT KIND OF PLANT SHOULD I BUY?

I THINK I'M READY TO BUY A PLANT,

WHERE SHOULD I SHOP?

THINK SMALL - SHOP SMALL

The pandemic has not been easy on any business. However, small businesses are still serving their communities and helping people find beauty in unexpected places.
